Getting ready for Spring

April 5, 2018

Hair and make up trends for Spring 2018 can be summed up in three words: all or nothing. Either go natural on colors and simple on hair, or go big and bold. Do whatever suits your style and the situation, of course.

Here’s what’s hot for Spring 2018

Hair Trends

Whether your hair is short, long, or somewhere in between, challenge yourself to wear it in different ways so that you don’t get stuck in the same old, same old rut. Change the season, change your hair.

Whether tight and sleek or classic and elegant, you can keep cool in warm weather by sweeping your hair into a chignon. Ageless Style tip: avoid tight and sleek if you have wrinkles as the severe hair will call attention to the lines. Opt for a looser style instead.

Braids can be straight and cute or elegant and sophisticated, depending on your age and the situation. Whatever you choose, it’s a chic way to keep cool in warm weather.

70’s Waves

Give your straightener's a rest, part your hair in the middle, and opt for freelance like curls this spring. I know, I know, who wants to revisit that era? Well, tons of fashion designers as it turns out. You’ll see a strong 70’s influence all over spring fashion trends this year with high waisted pants, wrap dresses, and chic pant suits.

Hair Ornamentation

Headbands, flowers, sparkly hair clips, they’re all en vogue this season. Particularly pretty: baubles with up-dos. If you have a special event this spring or summer like a graduation, debs wedding, or some other formal, wear your hair up and add some hair ornamentation. You’ll be right on trend.

Make Up Trends

As you look over these these make up trends, remember two simple words: either/or. Only draw attention to one part of your face at a time. Following all these trends at once is like wearing head-to-toe labels: tacky. What’s more, piling on makeup in weather that makes you perspire can make you look like , god only knows what, so be careful.

Green Eye shadow

Yes, you read that right. The bold eyes of the 60’s have returned and the most popular color is green. You could also wear blue or orange or yellow if you like, but not to work and not if you’re of certain age, because let’s face it: there’s trendy and then there’s clownish. Choose your trends wisely.

Lush Lashes

If nature didn’t give you lovely, long lashes, then this spring try adding false lashes to ramp things up a bit. Whether you opt for the traditional strip style, or the more natural looking (but labor intensive) cluster or single lash styles, do consider trying them, particularly for special occasions. You’ll be amazed at what an impact they can have. And there is always 3D Fibre Mascara, my personal favorite.

Bold Matte Lips

If your lips are one of your best features, play them up this season with bright, matte color on your lips, like red, orange, or pink. Nothing shiny, nothing frost, bold and matte. He won’t be able to take his eyes off your mouth.

Natural Looking

Not into makeup or prefer to keep things simple in warm weather? I don’t blame you. But remember, natural looking doesn’t mean no makeup. Every woman looks better with a little polish, including base makeup or tinted moisturizer to conceal imperfections, a pinch of color on the cheeks, a dusting of powder to keep the shine off your nose, and a little mascara to help the eyes pop.

Nail Trends

Warm weather means less clothes, skimpier footwear, and typically, lots of socializing which means people will be looking at your hands and feet. Keep them pretty and presentable all season long with these trends.

Tropical Colors

Blue sea, green grass, orange sherbet all gorgeous in the tropics, all available in nail colors this spring. Wear them for fun but do remember that nontraditional colors can be a distraction at work, so chose your shade wisely.

No Color

Who says you have to have color at all? You don’t. Going natural is perfectly okay so long as there’s proper grooming. No chewing on fingernails, no walking around with troll-like feet (hairy toes, cracked heels, nasty nails). If you feel the need to apologize for the condition of your nails, then you need a mani/pedi whether you go to a salon or do it yourself.

So those are the hot hair and make up trends for Spring 2018

Other things to consider at the weather grows warmer: lighten up on the moisturizer, shampoo your hair after swimming to get out the chlorine, and change to lighter fragrances for the warm weather months.
