The Best Ways to Deal with Acne

November 9, 2017

Acne is something that everybody has to deal with at some point although the extent to which it can become a problem will vary from person to person. However, no matter how bad it gets for you there is always the same problem shared by every single individual, how exactly do you deal with acne?

Now, the problem is that there appears to be so many different solutions that all claim that they are capable of working and clearing up the problem in next to no time, but to be honest some are better than others. This just makes matters worse as it does then mean that people are left wondering as to which ones they should try using, so what are actually the best ways to deal with acne?

In dealing with acne, it is often the case that prevention is indeed the best cure although we will cover both aspects. However, to begin with the best thing that you can do is to make sure that you identify the type of acne that you are suffering from, which means whiteheads or blackheads as they are caused by different things and can have an impact on the type of treatment that will work best. In this instance, we will look at general cures that have been shown to be effective for most people.

Acne is often the build up of dirt clogging your pores, so the best way to deal with it is to prevent dirt from building up in the first place. To do this, you should wash your face twice a day and use a mild cleanser or soap and this will be able to remove dead skin cells and bacteria that is building up on the surface of your skin.

2. Eat a healthier diet.

If you suffer from acne on a regular basis, then there is a good chance that you might not have the best diet and are low on various vitamins. Consider trying to increase the amount of Vitamin C and Vitamin E as well as more zinc as they have been shown to be effective at reducing the impact of acne and improving the overall quality of your skin.

3. Use tea tree oil.

Tea tree oil has a number of wonderful properties associated with it and it has been used for some time on the treatment of acne as well as wounds. You should look at dabbing some on cotton wool and apply it on the areas of acne that are causing you a problem although only use one or two drops at a time.

4. Use jojoba oil.

Jojoba oil is useful as it is close in nature to the natural oil that your skin produces, so applying it to the skin is going to be useful in helping to treat acne. The beauty of this product is that it does mean that you are applying a useful type of oil to your skin that is not going to block those pores or cause you problems.

5. Aloe vera gel.

Aloe vera gel has long been associated with helping various skin conditions due to the fact that it has antibacterial properties. These antibacterial properties have been shown to be effective at helping to combat acne as well as a number of other skin conditions although it is best if you apply it liberally all over your skin on a daily basis in order to really take advantage of it. By all accounts it should be quite soothing and it will help to stop the build up of bacteria that causes the problem in the first place.

6. Sea salt.

The idea of applying sea salt to your skin may sound rather strange to a number of people, but it has been shown in various studies to be a useful tool in the fight against acne. This is due to the way in which the sea salt has not only anti-ageing properties, but also anti-inflammatory properties and inflammation in the skin is one potential cause of acne. Furthermore, it protects your skin from harmful ultraviolet rays and stopping any type of harm to your skin is one way of reducing the chances of you developing acne in the first place.

7. Light therapy.

If you are not wanting to go down the self-treatment option, or if your acne is quite severe, then the professional route is perhaps going to be better for you. One such method is called light therapy as this will directly target those inflamed areas and reduce the lesions that are caused by severe acne. However, it has to be stressed that this should only be used in severe cases although it does tend to work and make things substantially better.

8. Taking better care of your skin.

Finally, the best way to treat acne is to reduce your chances of developing it in the first place. For this, you need to look at washing your face on a regular basis and make sure that you use the correct skin care products for your type of skin at all times. Take more care over what you put on your skin because if it is oily by nature, then using a skin care routine that contains a lot of oil would lead to those pores being blocked and the chances of developing acne would increase.

As you can see there are a number of potential ways for you to help heal that acne and to even prevent you from developing it in the first place. Now nothing is absolutely foolproof because things such as stress and illness can lead to it developing, but if you take the correct steps then at least you will reduce your chances of having a horrible outbreak.

Acne can be cured and it can also be largely prevented but the final point to remember is that not every potential cure will help and it can often be a case of trial and error to see which option best suits your own skin.
